The V6 design, developed exclusively for marine use, allows Mercury to build the 4.5L engine with the ultimate corrosion protection system. Cast-iron components are used in all areas exposed to saltwater contact, while marine-grade corrosion-resistant aluminum is utilized throughout the rest of the engine. This combination ensures maximum durability, long service life, and consistent performance even in the most demanding saltwater environments.

Thanks to the new scroll intake manifold, which draws in more air and converts it into additional torque, the engine delivers a revolutionary power-to-weight ratio, offering V8-level performance in a compact V6 package. This innovative design enhances acceleration, responsiveness, and overall efficiency, giving boaters powerful performance with lighter weight and smoother handling.

Smooth Operation

The newly designed rear-mounted throttle body, the anti-vibration throttle plate, the engine cover and mounts, along with the lightweight flywheel, fuel delivery module, and structural oil pan, all work together to ensure exceptional smoothness and minimal vibration. This advanced integration results in a refined driving experience, providing superior comfort, quiet operation, and precise control at every speed.

Corrosion Protection

The MercFusion paint system creates a durable outer sealing barrier, protecting the engine from harsh marine conditions, while the MerCathode® system provides active protection against galvanic corrosion.
